I need to replace the coil and cannot get the nut to turn on the flywheel to remove the flywheel to get to the end of the coil.
Also the inspection of the valve opening- the hole that goes into the block-does it have some type of material in the opening or is this just some gunk in the hole?

IS THIS AN OLDER 3 HP BRIGGS WITH POINTS THAT YOU NEED TO REMOVE THE FLYWHEEL, BECAUSE IF IT IS JUST CUT THE WIRE AND BUY A NEWER STYLE MAGNATRON COIL IT WILL BOLT RIGHT UP AND YOULL GET MUCH BETTER PERFORMANCE OUT OF YOUR ENGINE. JUST GO TO YOUR LOCAL SMALL ENGINE PARTS HOUSE AND TELL THEM WHAT YOUR DOING AND THEY SHOULD KNOW WHAT YOUR TRYING TO DO. IF NOT GIVE ME THE MODEL TYPE AND CODE OF YOUR MOWER AND ILL E-MAIL YOU THE PART# OF THE COIL YOU WILL NEED TO REPLACE IT. DO THIS AND YOU WONT HAVE TO TAKE OF THE FLYWHEEL. AND FOR THE WHOLE ITS PROBABLY JUST SLUDGE. CLEAN IT OUT AND CHANGE THE OIL.
