Ford transit stops suddenly white smoke emmited?

Hi Chris, You have a similar problem with me, mine is an S reg and suddenly belches white somke and looses power and stops, after bleeding it, it starts up and stops after a mile or so.
I have spent £350 at a garage it worked for about 100 miles and stopped again.
I dont know what the deal is with ford transits.
Can anyone help?

Hi, i had this problem today on my 94 transit after a quick look at the side of the road i spotted a break in the suction pipes that operate the ega valve, so fuel was getting dumped from the inlet straight down to the exhaust manifold also the loss of suction can cause the fuel to back up....... Look under the inlet manifold (the bit that curls over the top of the engine ) you will see a small round black plastic cylinder with pipes running from it, the two smaller pipes broke away on mine........... just a thought cheers Steve

Have you changed the fuel filter?
