I need to know how to replace headlight and side light bulbs in my rover 400 dti

Not sure - but try lifting the bonnet, disconnect the harness to the back of the bulb holder on the back of the light unit and withdraw it. Take care not to touch the bulb (use a tissue) and wipe it carefully if you do make contact since it will significantly shorten the life of the bulb.
