What is wrong? The machine fills up with water, but the dial is not turning automatically by itself, I have to manually move on to the next stage when I think it should be about right.

Also, the drum is not turning during the wash cycle so things just sitting in water and not getting clean. What is odd though is that if I put it on a spin cycle the drum spins just fine, so it is not like the mechanism for the drum turning has gone.

Any thoughts?
