sewing machines?

My old dial & sew from the 70's has been a time saver. Used for mends & minor projects. My tension has gotten out of correction. The top will not catch and the bottom is doing something every stitch or so. It isn't clogging or grabbing-just as if no tension on either side. Any suggestions? This is the 1st time for this in 30 years & I am dumb founded with a soultion.

Hello Lynn,
First thing to do is change the needle and make sure you put the needle in the correct way round, most common fault, when you thread up the machine make sure the presser foot is up and the cotton goes between the tension discs, the tension should be set about number 5, you can e-mail me if you wish if you have any further problems, drivewithken@blueyonder.co.uk
