Citreon picasso 1.6 SX X-reg impact sensor?

I have an X reg 1.6 Citreon Picasso sx and about 2 month ago my dash message display reads "RE-ARM IMPACT SENSOR" and my hazards lights come on every time I start my car, I've taken it to my brother-in-laws garage and he's ran a system check and all systems are fine including the air bag he phoned the local citreon garage and they gave him the big FO, can any one help, it is starting to grate on me.

To re-arm the impact sensor you need to open the bonnet then look on the left hand side under the bonnet for the inertia switch (a red rubber topped button) then use a 8mm semi deep socket to remove the two screws at either side of the the switch then disconnect the button from the cable make sure the connectors are clean (I used a flat head screwdriver) then reinsert the button and the problem should be fixed

Had the same problem - really irritating. Suffered for a whole year!

Look under bonnet -impact sensor on left with red rubber on top. Press rubber button with keys not in ignition - should re-arm -if not remove red cap and check that when pressing to re-set the mechanism is fully pushed down.

Very easy to replace from a scrap yard with no need to reset onboard computer if like me the button just wasn't pressing down enough. Just two pins and the plug underneath just pulls off.

I'm gonna miss those flashing hazard lights!!! NOT.
