how can i fix a starting problem?

i have a astra 1.7 dti estate but cant fire it up but it will turn over, ive been told it could be either the fuel ecu or diesel pump but this doesnt seem to be the problem

check glows plugs or have the vehicle compression checked also is the starter lazy? or the batt might be low on cranking amps
