washing machine works fine apart from fabric softerner stays in the draw and is mixed with a bit of water

Mine's behaving a little bit iffy too, if it doesn't syphon the stuff by cycle C or D (yes am doing my washing at the mo!), then i'll use a spoon to transfer the fabric softner from its current compartment to the washing powder compartment, maybe add some water to push it down...

PS. The fabric softner box says not to add it directly to fabric, so i guess am still in the green if the clothes have been in the machine for a while.

This happens to me quite often. It's because the machine is not level. The drawer empties by syphoning, and if the water doesnt cover the end of the drainage tube attached to the lid of the softener drawer, then it doesn't syphon.
