I've lost the first 2 fan settings on my Rover 216 heater blower?

I've lost the first 2 fan settings on my Rover 216 (cabriolet) heater blower.. nothing happens until position 3, and then blows like mad...!! (I presume the cabriolet wiring is the same as the saloon ??)
Anyone got any ideas...??

yes this sounds like the resistor which is a block behind the glove box on the left you might be lucky if you go to a scrap yard you will get 1 for about a fiver but 9 times out of 10 someone else has beaten you to it???

The resistors for positions 1 and 2 have blown. There's a guy selling repair resistors and detailing how to replace on eBay - good feedback

The fan has a resistor block in the circuit to step down the voltage so that you can select a slower fan speed. you will find the resistor blockfitted some where in the heater air flow duct if memory serves me right it is behind the glove box to the left of the fan it will have a electrical conector which will be visable. Good Luck.
