ford mondeo wont start?

My Ford Mondeo won't start anymore, when i turn ignition on,it just clicks. After a while the battery is flat and the remote wont work, but if i push it,it will start. What could be the problem,it started doing this last week when it suddenly cut itself off when i was driving and i had to push-start.

Sounds like the immoblerliser is stopping the starter from working, But is not inhibiting the engines ECU (ECM). Providing the clicking is the starter solenoid and not a relay the engine should start in the way described below.

To test connect a jump lead strait to the starter.

To do this locate the two large wires connected to the back of the starter motor, Find the LARGE RED one, Pull off the rubber boot and place one end of a jump lead on the connection, And the other to the positive of the battery. Then try turning the ignition key to the start position. The engine should start.

DO NOT remove the small red wire or allow the jump lead to short aganced any other wires and/or the metal case of the starter
