1990. 1.0 5 spd box. It is very tight getting out of 3rd gear only. No probs with the other gears ( in or out). This only happens while driving, stationary with engine running comes out of 3rd no prob. Gear change linkage feels & looks ok. Anyone any idea what in the box could be causing this and is it worth stripping the box down to "have a look" !! Any thoughts or comments would be most appreciated ...

the gearbox on this car will be off in 20 mins with basic socket set

they are so easy to remove

take the wheel off and have a quick look and you will see the few bolts holding it on.

go on ebay for a second hand haynes manual for about 3 pounds !!

Cheers for that - looks like I'll be stripping it down. It's about 20 yrs since I last stripped a box down so it'll be a "nice" learning curve !! Anyone know where on the net I can get stipdown procedures wiv lots of pics !!!

Hi it will be the 3/4 synchro hub cracked.
Very very common problem for this type of gearbox.
