Kwik Fit Recharge Air con for £40 now and if unsuccessful, ie your car has a leak on the air con, they will not charge you a penny!

In the UK its difficult to do anything to aircon legally if you don';t have the proper kit. As some one said go to a sspecialist.

LOW SIDE usually on accumulator or line .......if you hook to high side the can could blow up

I would not bother, if I were you!! At that age car you will have a leak somewhere and the best way of solving your problem would be to take it to an aircon specialist and pay his fee - around £70. That way you will get it pressure tested before any attempt to refill it.
