Car switches off at Traffic lights, How can I fix it?

Ford Fiesta 1994 1.1 litre HCS carburettor engine.
After starting the car from cold, it occassionaly switches off after applying brakes to stop. You can see the revs move downwards from 950 to 0. If you do not want the car to stop you accelerate which is not possible some of the times. If the radio and lights are on they remain on, only the car switches off as shown by the battery light that goes on.

You can then start the car with no problem and then go. It will happen until the car is warm.

i used to have a metro which did the same thing as soon as i stop it would cut out, i can't remember what i did to fix it, i think condensation could have been a problem as it was parked in a garage overnight, during winter it was worse, i think i changed the spark plugs, ht leads and put bit of oil in the carburetta, basically i serviced it...
