My 2.0l vauxhall limits at 4500rpm every now and then?

I have a M reg vauxall calibra 2.0l Ecotech and every now and then at any speed you feel a slight hesitation when accelerating and then when you want to rev it hard in gear or in neutral it will limit itself to 4500rpm. What can it be? Any help would be great. everything on the car is standard so no dodgy mods to chuck into the equation. Cheers

Hi chris,

Common fault on that damned eco tec. It could be several things, cam shaft sensor, crankshaft sensor or broken wires to them. I believe vauxhall do a repair wiring kit for the camshaft sensor which is the most common fault.
