How can I fix my Ford Mondeo passenger wing mirror?

Ford Mondeo 2000 V reg estate.
I want to take off the plastic triangular cover to the passenger front window to disconnect my broken wing mirror.

I'm told to take out the plug in the middle of the plastic cover.

Can't.

It doesn't seem to be the kind you can lever out; it seems to be of one piece with the cover but very slightly raised. The driver-side plug, if it is one, is slightly recessed.

The cover slightly pivots and seems to be fixed towards the middle.

Any help will be welcome.

The Haynes manual says, "Prise it out". So far I've broken one screwdriver trying to do just that!

Hi mate, go to your local ford supplier, and buy the round plug, and if you mark the triangle, then remove it any way you can, like making a hole and lever it off, and then when youve fixed the mirror on then use the new trim, ive had the problem as well, the more you try to prize the plug out, it closes any gap up.

I did it like this:

The lever for adjusting the position of the mirror comes out of a hole in the triangular plastic casing. Pull back the flexible piece of rubber that's in this hole, and stick something thin and hard up and push out the plug from the inside (I used a small phillips screwdriver). I found I could push the plug out just enough to then lever it out with a small flat-headed screwdriver. Under the plug you will find a screw and it's all obvious from there.

Hi. I have exactly the same problem. Just bought a new mirror for my 93 Mondeo and can't remove the triangular plastic bit for the same reason you stated. Did you manage to do it in the end? And if so, please can you give me some guidance. Thanks - really appreciate your help.
