How do replace the string on my craftsman weed eater?

How can I replace the string on my craftsman weed eater without having a meltdown
Randy, May 2007
There is a tiny cotter pin at the edge of the plastic housing. Remove this by pulling it up. Don't lose it! Twist the housing and lift off. Careful, it's only plastic and may be clogged with debris. Remove the spool. Rewind the cord on the spool, noticing how the old cord is attached. Spool has directions cord should be wound and also which side is top. Put the spool back on the spindle, thread the cord through the hole in the housing, add the spring and press the housing to the base until you can twist it together again. You may have to hook your fingers under the base to get the pieces to line up. Insert the cotter pin. DONE! Why doesn't Craftsman do this??? Becky
