whats the problem? had windscreen replaced as water was coming through, it has rained again and floors are soaking wet, cannot drive car as due to the huge puddles of water in the car windows are permanently steamed and when wiped steam straight up again. anyone know what the problem is with the car?

yes! sharans leak from under the bonnet, which gets clogged with leaves. Be careful, because underthe passenger seat is a control unit for the windows and door locks. when it gets wet it stops working! you can just unplug it and go to manual locking.

Ages and ages ago i had an escort that was the same. Turned out that the battery was being overcharged by a dodgy alternator, leading to acid vapour eating away through the battery area compartment making holes and allowing rain to come straight into the car.
if the car si water logged, demisting will be almost impossible, makes sure you have the air con on and heat as hot as u can bear to help clear it.
