when i put on a cycle the washer fills up with water and just stays on the same cycle for ever,but when you turn the machine off then put it on a spin it drains the water and spins. and i`ve noticed that the dail has got stiffer

Take the bottom off the front of the machine and undo the black part, have a towel ready for soaking up water, then see if something is in the filter.

could be the dial try takind the knob off it pulls off put it on 8 first and see what happens (we do the dials cheap and they are easy to replace
