My Hoover TC650 Filter light Won't go out, and it doesn't Heat up?!?

My hoover TC60 Dyer does not heat up and the filter light won't go out despite cleaning the filter, the area under the filter, the condenser etc. Is there any other place to check, or is there a switch somewhere inside that has stopped working?

I got a Tc650 and that too has the same fault won't heat and filter light on.Can't be bothered with this any more even though Hoover is in Merthyr Tydfil and I live there - Just gave up and bought a Zanussi.

My TC650 has just developed the same problem. I've removed the heater pack and the heater element is fine and so is the cutout switch. The culprit in my case is the diode which I've buzzed with a meter and it's dead (open circuit). I don't want to buy the complete heater assembly - just the diode from Maplin. Does anybody know the type number of it so I can order one up?
Many thanks.

The TC650 heater element has a termostatic switch (130degC) for temp regulation and a thermal cutout (for over-temp protection) set inside the heater assy. If the thermal device operates it is not self-resetting so will need to be replaced. This will cause the fault condition you describe.

I'm not sure of the setting for the thermal cutout but it's probably 150degC or thereabouts. I can't read the value on mine as it has worn off. Check the resistance of both thermostat and cutout when cold....one of them will be o/c and therefore faulty.

my dryer had the same problem. Just replace the heating element at the back of the condenser dryer behind the metal plating and all will work fine

And mine!
