Can I fix it myself?

I have a HP Pavilion zd8060, and just recently it has a very thin reddish/pinkish line that runs vertically from top to bottom of the screen. It's a 17" screen and the line is running right down the middle. What can the problem be. I cannot hook up another monitor because I don't have one.

You can try to open the laptop up, just remove all the screws on the bottom. There is a small ribbon cable that connects to the mother board. Pull that cable out and reconnect it. If it wasn't a loose connection, it is either a bad lcd, or a bad mobo. Unfortunately, these are the most expensive items on a laptop. Try reconnecting, if it doesn't work, deal with the line or buy a new laptop.

Hope this helps
