How can I reset my imobiliser key fob?

I have a Rover 216 sli 1995 and the battery needed replacing on the key fob which turns the alarm and imobiliser on and off. I changed the battery but now the key fob will not work at all so I can not use the car. How do I reset my key fob so it will control the imobiliser on the car again?

Hi.
I need to reset a Renault key, from a mod 2000 - but the dealer says because the key was not ordered with the Chassi number, the key is useless.
Is there a way around this?

depends on what car you have I have a Nissan you need to :place your key in the ignition and switch from the LOCK position to the ON position 6 times within 10 seconds ending with the key in the lock position.
if done correctly should flash 2 times
press and hold the UNLOCK button on your key fob and while keeping it pressed then push the LOCK button.
if done correctly the indicators should flash 2 times.
take your key out and test your key fob works ok

1. Open the key fob case.
2. Remove the old battery carefully.
3. Press both of the buttons one at a time for at least 10 seconds.
4. Fit the new battery, positive "+" side facing upwards.
5. Reassemble the two halves of the key fob.
6. Press the lock button (the right hand button) 4 to 8 times next to the vehicle the press the left hand button once.

1 unlock the vehicle using the key. 2 hold the remote control close to the vehicle. 3 press the remote control padlock or dimpled button 4 times or more in quick succession.

Hi there,

You'll probably have to reprogram the remote to your car. Tech-Tronics in Manchester are a good place to call. They have a simple kit (which comes with a brand new fob) allowing you to do this. Its very plug'n'play.

Cheers
