fuel problem?

mondeo 18 lx petrol just died on me at busy junction.r.a.c guy said fuel pump failed,took out pump and tested.pump works fine off a battery but will not pump when refitted please help.

have you tried checking the fuse or possibly the relay the ignition relay is a favorite on them it is located under the dash on drivers footwell.
