how can i fix my indesit is70c tumble dryer?

my indesit is70c tumble dryer wont heat up during performance
bernie, May 2007
I reset the thermostat by inserting a pin into the hole in the back of the thermostat and it worked a treat. The problem is it keeps happening and I have to reset the thermostat after every three loads?! I've cleaned the filters and hoovered everything! Driving me nuts!! Any idea what could be causing this?

Awesome Malc, your the gift that keeps on giving, stoney broke and not relishing the prospect of tying the washing to the back of my bike to get it dry, took longer to clean the condensor than it did to fix the fault which was just how Malcolm described, just take care when handling the heating elements as they are quite fragile but a basic repair anyone can do! Thanks again your a star!

Dave - Sheffield, June 2012
Annlz2004 - you need to unscrew the heating element to reveal the 2 thermostats.

Lee, February 2012
Help lol. I did as Malcolm said but when I took back off, I could not find thermostat or any hole? Driving me crazy. x

Hi

My IS70C is leaking. The condensed water is led up a small pipe, at the back, and should flow into the long container / reservoir to be manualy empted. The pipe looks in place, but for some reason the water does'nt all flow into the reservoir instead flowing in the reservoirs channel and out over the fromt of the dryer onto the floor.

Any advice welcome.

Thanks.

Excellent- resetting the once only thermostat worked a treat. Happily tumbling along....

jj, June 2010
Thanks Mal. Fixed in five minutes. Cancelled my order with Comet for a new dryer. You would almost think that the manufacturer wants you to buy a new dryer for the sake of a simple reset switch on the front of the dryer!!!!!!

peter, February 2010
just bought one with same problem of ebay (£18) did what was said and hey presto.. brilliant info and thank you

jonlee kay, January 2010

Malcolm,
U r a star! Worked like magic! thanks a million

Mani, July 2009
Oh why, oh why, oh why didn't I read this 1st? I have just removed the back, found the thermostat, thought I'll try a replacement tomorrow & pushed the drier back in position unplugged with the rear off. Only to break the damn element...now I need to shell ot £43 on a new one of those. Be warned by my experience & put the rear panel back on before you do the same.
Any advice on replacing the element guys?

CATHERINE, August 2007
Spot on Malcolm, that sorted mine. I agree with the butler it certainly is a sneaky place to put a reset.

Thanks mate.

Madass, August 2007
Malcolm you are a genius it worked a treat on mine.
Geez what a sneaky thermostat my last one had a button you could press on the external of the machine.
My wife says thanks to it's washing day.

the Butler, July 2007
It may have overheated due to the condensor getting blocked with fluff and activating the "once only" cut out thermostat. Turn off the power. Remove clean and replace the condensor (metal box at front left of machine). Remove silver back plate which gives you access to the heater. Remove heater and looking at it from the rear you will see one of the two thermostats has a hole in it, gently push something thin enough through the hole. You will hear it click which means you have reset it. Replace all parts and hopefully you should be sorted.

Malcolm Blyth, July 2007
maybe fuse for thermostat
