1. buy a service manual like hayes.
2. If its the discs the key to note is that the brake pads cab be lifted out after releasing the wire clips. To depress the pistons for new pads dont force them. You will see a cutout on the piston. Use a square rod or large screwdriver and rotate the piston to wind it back, pressing slightly. This works much better than brute force. Only get genuine pads as cheaper ones tend not to slide in as they always seem to be a bit bigger.
Whilst checking pads short out the pad wear wire and check if light comes on on dash. sometimes corrosion attacks the wire.
