How to get brake piston back?

I am changing the rear brake pads on a 1996 Monte Carlo and can not get the piston pushed back in. I have used a large c-clamp trying to get it back in, no luck. Is there something else that has to be done.

the piston will not push back in on rear brakes it needs to be screwed back in .......the piston actually turns on a screw type device ..this is for parking brakes

No, your just pushing the fluid back up to the master cylinder, you could remove the cap from the fluid reservoir to help and fasten the caliper back onto the carrier (w/o the pads) and lever the piston home.

have you removed the brake fluid cap ?
try using a aerosol brake cleaner.
