How can i get this laptop to boot up. The screen is telling me to remove disks or other media. but there is nothing in the drives

that's odd. you could try getting into the bios and disabling floppy/cdrom drives to see which one is stuck. I would also try booting with a bootable floppy/cdrom to see if it boots this way.
