Write a strong letter of complaint to the Managing Director: Mr Grantham, Tefal UK 11-49 Station Road, Langley, Slough, Berkshire, SL3 8DR quoting the Sale and Supply of Goods Act 1979 stating that goods should be of satisfactory quality and must be durable, safe and free from major and minor defects.
Also the Sale and Supply of Goods Act 2002 that you have legal statutory rights to choose repair, replacement, partial or full refund, or compensation as the fault has appeared within 6 years when it is reasonable to expect goods to last that long.
Get advice from Citizens Advice if stuck.
I got an up to date brand new replacement after 3 years free.
