how do you fix a seatbelt that is stuck ?

my seatbelt on the passenger side is stuck and won't pull out so you can fasten it. i have a 2001 ford taurus ses. what should i do to fix it?

Hi,
if the belt stays stuck once you have taken the tension off it, get a mallet and gently tap the end of the inertia unit. This will release the belt and allow it to wind back in.

You do not state whether the belt is loose, or jammed up tight to the top bracket.
If the latter then you need to take the tension off the belt. The best way is to unbolt the top bracket, thus giving some lee-way to allow the tension to be released.
