Hello Patricia,
You can get an instruction book from a US supplier, type in kenmoresewing machines, scroll down until you get to relics, you will then find every model you can imagine and I will be surprised if you don't get a book, or follow these instructions.
from the cotton reel take the thread through the top cotton guide, bring the thread straight down and clockwise round the tension discs, make sure the presser foot is up when you thread it, so you have gone round the tension discs making sure the thread goes completely in between the discs, straight back up to the top where the take up lever is, make sure the takeup lever is in the up position, put the thread left to right through the hole, bring the thread straigth down and pass it through the guide on the front of the faceplate, thread the needle front to back, tension should be about number 5.
To put the bobbin in, hold the bobbin in your left hand and the thread should be on the bottom of the bobbin, drop the bobbin in and pull the thread back on itself through the groove on the bobbin case and lay the thread to the back of the machine, all done.
Any problems just e-mail me drivewithken@blueyonder.co.uk
