Something (bra wire?!) has got between the drum and outer casing.

Lid off machine. Looks like the outer skin of the washing machine should come in half. Found screws at top and removed but seems as though the bottom is held together somehow.

What's the knack to get the back off?

remove the lid there are 4 screws to remove here 2 each side then you will need to remove two white plastic caps each side of the machine where the two cases meet two 7m screws here then there are two on the back left and right.
You will now need to lift the white water valve holder from the case just more it free no need to take this off.
Then put your hand inside each corner and tap it free.
