How can i fix my Sony Handycam Vision Steadyshot CCD-TRV318?

Whenever i switch the camcorder to camera mode, the screen remains blue, instead of showing whatever i point it at. This prevents me from recording anything. But, it does play tapes on it? How do i fix this?

I would Smack it couple of times.....That seems to be the fix for Sony Cameras these days. Don't laugh its true. Do a google search for "Smack Sony" and see that reading is believing. I have a DSC-f707 that the Smack worked on, and I also did it on the same camera you have, the CCD-Trv318, but the 318 had a different problem than yours did. I was getting the Dreaded c:21:23 error...The Smack down fixed it!
