bent male connector on usb jump drive?

I have a jump drive (thumb drive) with a bent male receptacle. It does not light up and is not recognized on my computer. The data on it is super important! Help?

how to fix will depend on how the plug is bent, if the plug is bent up (or down) from the drive as though its been knocked whilst pluged in you may have just pulled the soldered joint inside apart in which case resoldering the plug to the pcb inside may sort it out, if the plug itself is damaged then you may be able to attach another plug to the contacts on the pcb where the original plug is. Be careful though if you short out pins on the connector you may damage the pc. If its the pcb inside the drive thats damaged then its probably not a simple fix. in any event you will most likely have to open the plastic shell of the drive up to get inside and chances are you wont get it back together properly either but if your data is more important than the drive then getting the data back is the main job, Before you try anything though check that its not the usb port on the computer thats causing your problem these can and do go wrong.
