Clutch cable on Craftsman LT1000 riding lawnmower?

How do I change a clutch cable on a Craftsman LT1000 (model 9472711826) riding mower? I don't see how to remove the cable from the handle - the rest is easy.

The cable is not removable. You have to buy and install the whole clutch lever and cable assembly from Sears.Cost is about $60 including shipping.
