Drum sticking after drive belt replacement on Zanussi TC-470?

Zanussi TC-470
I have recently changed the main drive belt on my Zanussi TC-470 tumble dryer, but now the drum sticks and it does not dry properly. I followed the advice given in various posts on this site, even down to re-positioning the spring on the motor, but am still having problems......any help anyone can give will be greatly appreciated.

1st time to visit this site and it is fantastic....I too fitted the belt the wrong way and got a burning smell etc. Thanks to BobG`S PIC of the way the belt should be threaded it now seems to be working fine. Hopefully many €`s saved and the embarressment avoided of calling a repair man when I had unsucessfully tried to fix it myself. Thanks guys!

Funnily enough ours starting sticking and emitting a burning smell. Turns out that the main belt had hurdled over the stop and was on the smooth section on the axle. I'm trying a light spring between the jockey wheel and circlip to stop it moving too far towards the rear of the machine but still leave some play. What do you have between the jockey wheel and its circlip ?

P.S. We certainly wouldn't leave our machine running whilst we were not around.

If the belt is fitted correctly and it the drum is sticking then the rear bearing is worth a look - you can see it from the rear of the machine - right at the centre of the drum. It can wear quite badly.
There is a felt bearing at the front of the machine - this can get clogged with fluff you can clean it out but you need to get the drum out.
Yet another possibility is the jockey wheel - mine ended up with a one-belt-width groove worn in it.

Have a look at "Why would TC470 belt shred?" on this site.
Move down to BobG's post with a link to http://uk.f2.pg.briefcase.yahoo.com/bjgrain
then select My Documents and then tc470blt.jpg.
This shows a photograph of how the belt should be seated. I seated mine differently the first time I changed it and had similar problems to the one you are describing.
Hope this helps.
