Ryobi 780r straight shaft gas trimmer ('02 model):
engine still starts & runs fine, but the trimmer head will not work.
Suspect drive cable problem, but how hard for me to fix?
Any way to see if cable has just come loose in the drive shaft, or is it always a replacement type repair?

I have the same problem with my ss30. Wow you have been posted since June, I 'm hoping it won't take months to get a free answer. I do know that some types of trimmers have a specific way to put the trimmer drive lines back together, once you got it it's easy. But trying to figure it out without some guidance is a challenge to ones patience. so if I find an answer I get back to you.
