How can I fix a tap that doesnt work?

The hot water tap on my bath does not work i.e. no water comes out (cold water tap is fine). How do I fix this? The make of the tap is Armitage Shanks, don't know what model it is.

I'm too late but couldn't resist the following.

Kev you can't spell seized and bath taps aren't 1/2 or 15mm they are 22mm or 3/4 so I hope he didn't go out and buy then as your name would be mud,,they are the largest taps in dwellings because of the volume needed to flow through otherwise it would take ages for a bath to fill. Your reply should have been remove the centres and replace with universal 3/4 or 22mm tap centres that have various size collars to fit the several types. I suggest Kev you have a dikshonary beside you when you next put forward a suggestion.

swollen washer my ar** and its a ballofix not a ballvalve
the answer is that the tap body has ceased ie the spindle.
you can turn off water take off tap top remove the tap body with a pair of grips release the spring clip and add some silicon grease, the other option is to buy a pair of 1/2 inch tap tops and change both.
