No Full Beam Headlights on 1994 Clio RT 1.4?

I've just purchased an M reg Clio RT 1.4 and have found that I can't turn the headlights onto Full main beam, the side lights and dipped main lights work ok. Grateful for any info that can help me out.

Is the box that holds the dip/main lever to the steering column still securely fixed? It is held to the column by a large bolt/screw reached from under the cowling.

I had this work loose at the dead of night and as a result was unable to get sufficient movement on the arm to get dipped beam. Switching the headlights off resets it to dip automatically and so I ended up in the same situation as you report and unable to get main beam.

A simple job to find the loose screw (!) by feel, and then tighten up with a large screwdriver.

there are 3 possible causes.1 the bulbs have blown.2 the fuses have blown or 3 the switch on the arm could need replacing
