i had a 96 civic coupe 1.6ils. the immobiliser light kept flashing and i had to turn the key on and off about 20 or 30 times to get it to stop flashing until eventually the car couldnt be started. basically you have 3 options. 1. get a jap ecu with the same connections cause they dont have immobilisers. 2. go to honda dealer and get a new key chip and get the immobiliser reprogrammed but this is expensive but can be reasonable if you still have the origional red key. 3. what i did was go to a scrapyard and get an ecu(behind the kick panel in passenger footwell), immobiliser box (behind the panel under the steering wheel), reciever(plastc ring on the ignition barell) and key chip. these MUST be all taken out of 1 car. i.e just replacing one component wont work. most breakers wont know the true value of all these bits, i got them all for 100quid and it only takes abot 20 minutes to replace all these bits. i sliced open the rubber on the key, put in the chip and glued the rubber back on. dont be too rough handling the ecu. its very easy to do anyway,
