How do I remove an item that falls in the lint trap?

I have a Kenmore Heavy Duty Dryer. I had a piece of thick paper/cardboard a little larger than a dollar bill, fall in to my lint trap while I was cleaning and now I can't get it out. My hand won't fit down there far enough. I removed the metal on the back and it looks like the lint tube(?) that leads to the vent is all one piece. I'm not sure how to get into it, or if there is anythign I can do to remove it.

Dana,

My husband broke the white plastic piece that supports the lint trap and it fell into the large opening along with a steak knife that I tried to use. With a little Yankee ingenuity, a pair of long prongs, a long plastic wall edge protector, and patience, I removed both of the objects. I tried to take off the plastic lint holder but I figured I would break something else. Good Luck
