unable to open passenger door on my vauxhall omega?

vauxhall omaga 2.0 16v auto 1996 central locking. passenger door refuses to open by key fob or via key used on drivers door, internal door locking knob does shuttle up and down but not fully and cannot internally be persuaded to open fully (as though something is jamming it). Without the door in the open position how do i remove the door card to check the mechanism or is there a trick to open the door without trashing the panel to get to the mechanism. Is this a common fault? can somebody please help. Regards Andy.

You can remove the door trim with the door shut without trashing it. Remove plastic behind inner door opener it just unclips 2 screws at front of door hidden under plastic caps 2 screws at rear of door ( you will have to unclip the trim that covers the bottom of the seatbelt to getat them) Remove door locking button and there is a screw behind that last of all unclip the plastic on the front of the door closer and you will find two screws there (there are a futher 3 screw right on the base of the door that you cannot get at until the door is opened). once all the screws are out that you can get too pull the top of the door panel to unclip it you will then be able to get at the loking mechanism behind plastic sheet Lubricate the locking mechanism with WD40 or similar then wok central locking until it releases once you have the door open lubricate the locking mechanism inside/outside the door. The problem is usually down to lack of maintaince during servicing and it begins to seize once that happens the solinoid does not have the power to unlock the door. Good Luck
