I have the same problem - we bought a house with a Frigidaire Gallery side-by-side ref/freezer and it's junk; the ice maker sometimes works and sometimes will go for days w/o making any. I will never knowingly buy another Frigidaire appliance. The repairman has been out at least 6X, charged us over $300 and gives a different explanation each time. He now says he's figured out the problem: the fan motor, which is $136, whcih with labor will put it at over $200, which means if I let him fix it, I'll have over $500 in a fridge/freezer I don't even like. I don't know whether to cut my losses & buy a new frig/freezer, or let the man try to fix it. My belief is that Frigidaire made a bunch of cheap appliances, slapped a fancy name on them -Gallery Series Professional - marketed them as upscale, "quality" appliances and priced them high. Any professional who buys and depends on any of these appliances for their livelihood will promptly go out of business, a fate which should befall Frigidaire for making such junk. Note to Frigidaire: make good products and you will prosper . . . continue making junk and you will suffer. See Motors, General; circa 2009.
