Where can I find a wiring schematics of a 1997 MTD Yard Machine?

I am attempting to repair this riding lawn mower. Belonging to an elderly woman. I appears it has had alot of help if you know what I mean. In checking the wiring I found a yellow/black wire which had been cut. The other side of the harness is tack which runs to the cylenoid.

In an attempt to get it to run I bypassed the safety switches.
Note: I have fire but, the starter will not engage. I replaced all safety switches with new parts and it still does not run. Where does this wire go and what does it do? This is getting out of hand.

The lawn mower is equipped with a Briggs and Stratton 28T707, Type 1154-E,Code 970723ZA

you may have to ID your mower by the information found on the bottom of the seat and that should lead you to a page full of manuals to download- one opf them should be your Briggs engine manual and that or the operators manual usually has a wiring diagram - sometimes the last page-

hey - i found your post while trying to look for information on starter diagnostics- you dont happen to know anything about starters do you?
my bolens (briggs and stratton OHV 17.5 hp) mower wont catch- it just turns over once and then again with another key turn--- very slowly)

the starter seems hot without even without the engine running- i have started it recently with ether in the spark plug hole- or by recharging the battery and saying sweet things to it while cursing under my breath.

today i have :
cleaned the carb
gapped the plug
checked all wiring connections
replaced inline 20 amp fuse
cleaned inline fuel filter

perhaps you know something about starter diagnostics- - does a hot starter mean it's on the way out?

you can email me back if you have an answer
