Rover 214 si?

Recently my rover 214 si p-reg broke down. The oil light stayed on after i had started the car and it cut out before i could pull over anywhere. After that the car would not start. I called the RAC who told me that the engine had seized and was towed home. Since then i have had it jumped of my astra but the oil light stays on and it sound really rough. If the engine had seized surely it wouldnt have started?! Pls help!
Cheers Jon

I have recently had the car started again and it sounds normal. The oil light goes out now immediately after the engine turns over. However, when the engine heats up i have no hot air coming from my heater vents. Also the car has been stared long enough to put charge in the battery but when the engine is switched off, the car will not start again without being jumped. Any ideas???!!! The fan cuts in at the right time and the engine does not overheat.

Cheers. Yes both levels were fine when i left. I had been losing small amounts of water as i had a small leak but it wasnt a serious amount. Still no idea tho!

BTW you did check the oil and water levels before trying to start it again didn't you?

Assuming that you have a K series engine in the car, I am afraid that your engine likely to be toast. Ks don't like being without oil and/or water and when they lose either the result is usually catastrophic.
