how do I bypass my peugeot 406 immobiliser ?

Hi all
I took my 406 to Peugeot i was told the immobiliser was naffed as the pump is giving no fuel out to the engine & because of year of the car 1996 TD with a key pad immobiliser its not worth fixing the car has a bosch pump.

i was told by the dealer to scrap it

i also understand if you do not wish to put on a open forum you could email with the answer to limotec@aol.com

Westy, August 2017
Hi All, had problem with broken wires leading from keypad ( 97' 406 TD ). Repaired wires before and approx. 1 year later same issue. Repaired wires again in order to start engine, then with engine running, disconnected connector block from keypad. Engine now starts independently. NO MORE KEYPAD. Many thanks to all on this site or the info. Any questions then please feel free to call me on 07753 475570. Simon.

hi i got a 97 406 and all wires on keypad broken off how can i start the car or bypass to work

gerrie, May 2011
I had the Red and Green light on my Immobiliser on my Phase 1 1996 D Turbo.
I rang up Peugeot and they said it will cost alot to fix so it isn't worth doing. Me being me (Stubborn), I got the old 306 on a ramp, and had a look at the wiring loom at the N/S/F next to the radiator under a flap.
Luckily I found two wires were split/slightly corroded. I connected the two wires together, cranked the car and she started!
As soon as i'd done that I quickly disconnected the immobiliser and I don' have to use it again.
I hope this helps someone with their 306.

Had the problem on my 1996 petrol 406, red and green lights on simultaneously. Checked the back of the keypad and found 4 broken wires. Rather fiddly to replace the wires as they had broken off at the entry to the multiway connector. After fixing the wiring I removed the connector with the engine running (as suggested elsewhere) and now the immobiliser is bypassed. So a huge thank you to this website.

hello i hava a 1997 306 with the keypad immobiliser,it also has a cat 1 alarm witch is handy on a modified car,,the battery went flat as the cars off the road,,i charged battery then went to start the car, turned the ignition to the second setting then straight away the green light came on with out me haveing to put my code in,went to start the car and will not start,,wont even try,so i tryed useing jump leads and ran power from another car and when you put key to second position the dash lights just flicker and a relay sitting next to the big relay box under the bonnet just goes beserk but car still wont turn over,,can any1 help

alex y, October 2009
Before you bypass check the wires that go into the plug at the back of the keypad. Today I checked mine and after stripping the protective sleeve back there were THREE broken wires. They are so thin they break easily. I just stripped the colour coded wires back and twisted them together and soldered them and wrapped them back up in electrical tape. All working fine now.

Johnny, July 2009
My immobiliser has messed up also. N reg 406 TD. After I removed the stereo. Does the stereo wiring have anything to do with the immobilser?

johnny, July 2009
My wife got stranded when the 406 keypad failed to work. AA man undid panel directly above keypad and advised giving the wires 'a wiggle', and that it will work to keep doing that for a while. hmmm

find trip wire on back of ignition switch, cut and connect a new wire to ign switch side and run it to the trip on starter motor try to start car it should now turn over.next connect a ignition live feed to the fuel shut off valve on back of fuel pump and start car tit will run .if you turn the car off and it still runs then you have a permant live feed to the fuel shut off and not a switched ignition live ps dont use the same live as the starter trip i have run thes engines on the floor and out of the car hope this helps only for diesels engines

We have immobiliser problem red light goes to green when code entered but nothing we or the garage could do would make the car start. I bought the car for my son to go to Glastonbury next week he is 18 and it was only £400 it went great for two days then on the third it wouldn't start he got out locked it unlocked it got in and okay but the next day it wouldn't start and we have tried everything ever since but no joy. if anyone does know how to neutralise the immobiliser if the car won't start please can you email jennie.chapman@falmer.brighotn-hove.sch.ukme as the garage say only peugeot can do it and its £200 which we haven't got.

Answer to all you guys out there. Peugeot keypad probs. The easy way! Take a live feed from battery + into car dash(or anywhere only you know) add a switch take cable from other terminal through to engine bay and connect to stop solenoid on fuel injector pump. If ure unlucky to have a metal cover over yours and dont want to spend a day removing the pump, the only (brutal) way is to attack it with an angle grinder. remove intercooler if its a turbo. Took me 30 mins so far. Next find the starter motor feed on ignition switch. Scotchlock new cable to feed , run through to engine bay and connect to starter after removing original cable. REMEMBER both these cables are from a live feed (positive) if these wires rub through accidently touch chassis you could be claiming on your insurance!! Be a good idea to put an inline fuse in pump switch. Ignition should be ok . Good luck . Ian

My peugeot 306 diesel estate had a key transponder immobilizer. After the battery went flat the immobilizer kicked in and cut fuel to the diesel pump. After many hours surfing and many recommendations I decided to remove the immobilizer completely.............by striping down the area and using a grinder. Like this....

same problem, peugeot 306 turbodiesel 97P (keypad immobiliser), after the battery was disconnected to change the starter, the red and green lights come on togther a couple of seconds after turning the key to the 2nd position (without touching the keypad). Then pressing number keys gives beeps but no confirmation beeps after entering 4 numbers. It cranks but does not start. Tried all the usual things (leave it on for >1hour to try to reset in case its locked out, checked the plugs+wires to the diesel pump, press the fuel cutoff / inertia switch).

I need a cheap fix or i'll have to scrap the car. If anyone can help pls email robert_a_buckley at hotmail dot com.

cheers
