my blades are locked on my mower?

I am a single mom, My lawn mower starts up fine and it runs. Its also sounds good, but the blades are locked......Please point me in the right direction.....is their a belt that makes the blades spin, is their a screw that needs to be removed in order to replace the blades what is it.

Thanks,
Tracey

Tracey there are a few thing we should know is there a lever that you use to make the blades spin. If not the blade could be so lose under the mower that it could be very dangerous. If this is the case without a blade clutch. Then turn the mower on its side oppsite of the air cleaner. While it is not running try to move the blade back and forth toward the deck and away. If it is lose then you will need to tighten it. But first take the blade all the way off and look at where it connect to the mower there maybe two holes that need to be alinged with the shaft to make sure the blade is correcty on if there is the put it back on and tighten. ALso when you tighten it use a piece of scrap wood to hold the blade from spinning. Now if this isnt the case ie. that it does have the seperate lever or ie. (Blade clutch) then you will need to take it to a severice center because then it maybe the belt clutch adjustment or many other things. Any questions email at dsemarsh@charter.net
