cambelt snapped at low speed, hoping that not a great deal of damage was done.. Does any one know what costs i should be expecting?

The GTI 6 is well know in the trade for snapping the timing belt well before the stated replacement interval, most clued up GTI6 owners wouldn't leave a belt change more then every 27K miles or every 3rd service.

Expect 16 bent valves because these do a lot of damage when they go, take the head off but be prepared for the worse.
