I have an N reg 55s Punto with a continual problem. It stutters, particularly in low revs, but actually most of the time. It feels as though the petrol isn't getting through so there is very little power in the car, but then it feels like the block is cleared and all the petrol rushes in and the car jumps forward. It happens when changing gear, when going along at a constant speed - all the time!! No mechanic has been able to fix it. Anyone out there with ideas?

does it have any patterns, i.e is it when its hot or cold?every car tends to have some pattern to its faults and it can help to solve it.you say youve had it on a diagnostic and it shows no fault codes at all? you say it feels like fuel starvation so its most likely a fault in the fuel injection system.it every car can be fixed so dont worry.1st i want you to check the vacuum pipe on the injection system,its 70cm long and only 2mm internal diameter so you should be able to find it easily,check for any leaks and blockages.also how good are you with a multimeter?also have you put any fuel injection cleaner in it and has the fuel filter been replaced ,its worth doing the easy jobs 1st and it will help it to run better anyway.you said something about coils,are you meaning ignition coils ?if so that should have registerd on a diagnostic.also just want to be sure the air filter and plugs have been changed.if you have a friend or family member that knows basic mechanics i will be able to cover all possibilities.

Hi Mikey11000. No I haven't fixed it yet. We have a new clutch, timing belt, alternator and head gasket. Someone mentioned induction coils might be a possible lead. No fault appears on the mechanics computer tests.
Where should I go from here?

Hi if you havent yet sorted it let us know.its not something i will be able to fix straight away but i will tell you the best order of tracking the fault.
