What does it mean when there is gas in the oil?

What is wrong with my 1997 Chevy Cavalier when I drain the oil and there is gas in with the oil?

I would think on a 1997 that it has a in tank fuel pump so its proably a bad fuel rail regulator but car has to be running bad
