Hotpoint aquarius water coming back into the drum?

Hi, my hotpoint aquarius wf250 washer is washing ok spinning and draining off but when its been standing for a while there seems to be a collection of water in the drum, obviously the longer it stands empty the more water in the drum.
We are putting it on a spin before we use it to get rid of the water.
Where can the water be coming from? its only a small amount of water say about 1-2 ltrs in the drum over a 24-48 hr period

Thanks

is it clean water or dishwater?
if clean water is in machine, a seeping fill valve on machine could be cause and would need replaced. Switch off water supply overnight to see if it stops..
If dishwater(dirty) is in machine then plumbing of waste drain hose could require attention.. water could be back flowing from sink waste into machine..
Most machines have a non return flap on the drain pump to stop the latter from happening so I would suspect valve as primary possibility unless non return flap is tuck open..
