Dear all,
My Simpson Maxidry 1200P seems nearly dead. When turned on, it emits a brief hum and then nothing at all after that.

I've cleaned all the lint out of the thing that I can and have checked the belt, but there's still just the brief hum, then nuthin'

Your belt is not tight enough to start spinning the drum so either remove the cover to the belt and give it a tug when the dryer is humming OR Open the door. Insert your little finger in the door catch to trip the switch and make the dryer hum, then spin the drum by hand. Once the drum is spinning close the door while quickly removing removing your finger. This worked for me for years!!!!!
